KING'S VOLLEYBALL HANDS FIRST-PLACE DESALES FIRST CONFERENCE LOSS

WILKES-BARRE -- The King's College women's volleyball team put together its most complete match at a key point in the season as the Lady Monarchs knocked off Freedom Conference leading DeSales 3-0 Wednesday in Scandlon Gym.

King's, which won by scores of 30-19, 30-25, 30-11, improved to 15-6 overall but more importantly evened its Freedom Conference mark at 2-2. DeSales fell to 10-9 overall but lost its first conference match of the year in slipping to 3-1.

The Lady Monarchs, who had dropped five of their previous seven contests, including their last two Freedom Conference matches, controlled the action from the outset.

Michelle Oros was outstanding for the Lady Monarchs with 16 kills, four blocks, and six service points. Katelyn Corgan added 10 kills while Jessica Kandefer also contributed with 10 kills. Jessica Luedeman distributed 31 assists with 12 service points and eight digs while Diane Lucas followed with 10 digs, 11 service points, and three kills. Erin Dugan chipped in with 13 digs.

King's will return to action Saturday at 12:00 noon with a tri-match against Montclair State and St. Elizabeth's College in Scandlon Gym.
