KING'S VOLLEYBALL TEAM WINS ITS OWN TOURNEY FOR 7TH STRAIGHT YEAR
WILKES-BARRE -- For the seventh straight year, the King's College
Women's Volleyball Tournament team title was won by the host Lady
Monarchs.
King's followed two victories on Friday with a pair of wins on Saturday
to complete the two-day event with a 4-0 mark. On Saturday, King's
clinched the title with a 3-1 win over Marywood, before closing out the
event with a 3-0 triumph over Keystone.
Misericordia would finish second in the event in a tiebreaker over
Wilkes and Marywood after all three teams finished the event with a 2-2
mark.
Pacing King's on the day was senior Michelle Oros who earned most
valuable player honors after posting 23 kills and 12 blocks in the two
games on Saturday. Diane Lucas, who was named to the all-tournament
team, followed with 28 digs, 25 assists, and eight kills. Jess Luedeman
distributed 50 assists with nine digs while Jessica Kandefer contributed
20 kills and 15 digs. Freshman Katelyn Corgan chipped in with 23 kills.
Joining Oros and Lucas on the all-tournament team were Nicole Hahn and
Jillian Focht of Wilkes, Misericordia's Kelly Coppage, and Angela Myers
of Marywood.
King's will open dual meet action Thursday with a 7:00 p.m. home contest
against Cedar Crest College in Scandlon Gymnasium.
