KING'S VOLLEYBALL GOES 2-0 AFTER FIRST DAY OF TOURNEY
WILKES-BARRE The King's College women's volleyball team went
2-0 after the first day of the King's Volleyball Tournament Friday in
Scandlon Gymnasium.
King's won its opener over
Wilkes 3-1 by scores of 30-18, 28-30, 30-19, 30-15. The Lady Monarchs
then followed with a 3-0 triumph over Misericordia, winning by scores of
30-18, 30-21, 30-16.
Freshman Katelyn Corgan topped the squad with 28 kills and five aces
while senior Michelle Oros added 26 kills and 16 blocks. Jess Kandefer
had 21 kills and 21 digs, while Jessica Luedeman distributed 92 assists.
Wilkes then responded by
downing Keystone 3-0 by scores of 30-26, 30-20, 36-34. The Lady Colonels
were led by Nikki Hahn with 74 assists, 23 digs, and six service aces.
Alicia Vieselmeyer posted 20 kills with 25 digs while Jill Focht tallied
24 kills and four blocks. Kristen Lambert chipped in with 26 digs.
Misericordia defeated Marywood 3-0 in its opening match by scores 30-18,
30-27, 30-27. Chavonne Potts had 38 assists and 29 digs for
Misericordia while Michelle DiCicco added 17 kills, 10 digs, and three
blocks.
Marywood then bested Keystone 3-0 in its final match by scores of 30-19,
30-13, 30-13. The Pacers were led by Angela Myles with 23 kills while
Lauren Warburton followed with 45 assists. Christina Luciw and Danielle
Dufour chipped in with 14 and 11 digs respectively.
The tournament continues Saturday at 11:00 a.m.
