KING'S VOLLEYBALL
WILKES-BARRE Wilkes University rallied
from one game down to knock off rival King’s College,
28-30,30-24,30-20,30-27, in a Freedom Conference women’s volleyball
match on Tuesday night in the Marts Center.
The win improves the Lady Colonels to 5-3 overall and 1-0 in the
conference and snaps a 13-match losing streak to the Lady Monarchs that
dates back to 1997. King’s sees their record slip to 7-4 overall and 0-1
in the conference.
The Lady Monarchs were paced by Jessica Kandefer’s 14 kills and 22 digs.
Michelle Oros chipped in with 11 kills and six blocks, while Elena DiGrado
had 11 kills. Diane Lucas finished the night with 17 digs and Katie Carr
had 12 digs. Brittany Enz was the top setter for King’s with 30 assists
and four service aces.
Nicole Hahn handed out 59 assists to lead the Wilkes attack. Alicia
Vieselmeyer was one of four Wilkes players to record double-figures in
kills. Vieselmeyer had 17 kills and 12 digs. Amanda Harlan added 15 kills,
while Jeanine Barber and Megan Riley had 13 kills each. Riley picked up a
team-leading 21 digs, while Barber chipped in with 14 digs.
King's will travel to Hackettstown, NJ to face Centenary College Saturday
at 1:00 p.m.
