KING'S CLAIMS SIXTH STRAIGHT VOLLEYBALL TOURNEY TITLE
WILKES-BARRE Make it six straight championships at its own
King's College Volleyball Invitational Tournament.
The title, however, did not come easy.
King's, Wilkes, and Marywood all finished with identical 3-1 records but
the title went to the host Lady Monarchs via point differential tiebreak
procedure.
Wilkes finished second while Marywood wound up in third.
King's and Marywood entered Saturday with 2-0 records but Wilkes defeated
Marywood 3-1 in the first match of the day as both teams stood at
2-1. Marywood would then upset King's 3-1 while Wilkes defeated
Misericordia. King's won its last match over Keystone by a 3-0 count
to leave all three teams deadlocked at at 3-1 marks.
Marywood's Kate Paschak was named tournament MVP while the remainder
all-tournament team consisted of teammate Laura Warburton, Wilkes' Alicia Vieselmeyer and Nicole
Hahn, while King's was represented by Katie Carr and Diane Lucas.
King's will host Keystone Thursday at 7:00 p.m. in Scandlon Gymnasium.
