KING'S, MARYWOOD STAND 2-0 AFTER FIRST DAY OF
VOLLEYBALL TOURNAMENT
WILKES-BARRE -- On the opening day of the King's
College Volleyball Invitational Tournament, the host Lady Monarchs and
Marywood University both walked away with 2-0 records.
In the tournament opener, King's defeated Wilkes
3-1, then followed with a 3-0 victory over Misericordia. Marywood earned a
3-0 win over Misericordia, then added a 3-0 victory over Keystone. Wilkes
then followed with a 3-0 victory over Keystone to stand 1-1 after the
first day
King's (3-0) was led by Katie Carr with 28 digs and
14 kills. Jess Kandefer added 21 service points and 20 kills. Michelle
Oros followed 14 kills and eight solo blocks. Brittany Enz dished out 55
assists while Jess Luedeman added 25 assists. Diane Lucas had 35 digs and
Elena DiGrado chipped in with 27 kills.
Wilkes was paced by Megan Riley with 27 kills and 13
digs. Alicia Vieselmeyer followed with 24 kills and 16 assists. Kristen
Linhart added 14 kills while Jeanine Barber and Denise Cole posted 14 digs
each. Nicole Hahn dished out 74 assists.
Misericordia, 0-2 on the day, was led by Jessica
Klimas with 44 digs and eight kills. Kelly Coppage followed with 47 digs
and 14 kills, Chavonne Potts chipped in with 28 digs and 23 assists.
The event will continue today when Wilkes faces
Marywood at 11:00 a.m. King's will then meet Marywood at 1:00 p.m.
