King’s Women’s Volleyball Wins One, Loses Two in Maryland Tournament

CHESTERTOWN, MD -- It was a bittersweet weekend for the Lady Monarch Volleyball team as they defeated Washington College, but lost to Richard Stockton College and Villa Julie College to finish third overall at the Washington College Invitational Tournament in Chestertown, MD Saturday.

King’s lost to Richard Stockton, New Jersey 3-0 by scores of 28-30, 14-30, and 25-30.  The Monarchs then fell to Villa Julie 3-1 (30-32, 33-35, 30-19, 25-30).  King’s the defeated host Washington College 3-0 (30-20, 30-17, 30-26).

Jessica McVey was named to the All-Tournament team with 42 kills and a team leading 41 digs.

Notable Monarch statistical leaders include Annie German with 48 kills and 20 digs, and Diane Lucas with 33 digs and 16 kills.  Lauren Foster chipped in with 67 assists while Jessica Luedeman had 32 assists.

King’s falls to 9-8 on the year and plays their next game away at MAC Freedom Conference opponent Farleigh-Dickinson Florham Tuesday at 7:00 p.m.
