KING’S VOLLEYBALL FALLS IN
TOURNAMENT
MUHLENBERG – The King’s
women’s volleyball team was fell twice Saturday in the Muhlenberg
Tournament, first to Susquehanna and then to SUNY-Brockport.
In the first game, the Lady Monarchs were defeated 3-2 by Susquehanna
University. The match scores
were 30-23, 26-30, 29-31, 30-26, and 15-12. The second game of the afternoon had King’s matched up with
SUNY-Brockport. Brockport
came out on top 3-0. The
match scores were 18-30, 19-30, and 25-30.
Annie German had 26 kills, 33 digs, 13 service points, and 10 total
blocks on the day for the Lady Monarchs.
Jess McVey contributed with 38 digs, 34 kills, and 15 service
points. Jessica Luedeman had
32 assists and 17 service points. Elena DiGrado had 16 digs and 12 kills
while Lauren Foster added 40 assists.
The
two losses drop the Lady Monarchs to 5-2 on the season.
These tournament defeats snap a string of nine consecutive
tournaments won by coach Bernie Kachinko’s squad.
The streak dated back to 2001.
Despite their 1-2 tournament mark, King's was the only squad to place two
players on the all-tournament team as German and McVey were
selected.
The Lady Monarchs will participate in the Lebanon
Valley College tournament Friday and Saturday in Annville.
