KING'S VOLLEYBALL RALLIES TO DOWN DICKINSON
ALLENTOWN -- The defending champion King's College
women's volleyball overcame a 2-0 deficit to rally for a 3-2 victory over
Dickinson College in the opening round of the Buttermaker Tournament at
Muhlenberg College in Allentown.
The Lady Monarchs played poorly in dropping the
first two games, committing 43 hitting errors while falling 30-22 and
30-27. King's then fell behind in the third game by a 18-9 count before
the team began to rally. The Lady Monarchs would come back to post a 30-25
victory, then won the fourth game 30-16. In the deciding fifth game,
King's walked away with a 15-6 triumph to remaining unbeaten at 5-0 on the
year.
Annie German led King's with 29 kills and 18 digs
while Lauren Foster distributed 55 assists. Jessica McVey added 26 digs
and 16 kills followed by Jessica Kandefer with 15 service points. Elena
DiGrado contributed 14 service points and 21 digs while Katie Carr chipped
in with 16 digs.
The tournament will resume Saturday as King's faces
Susquehanna at 8:00 p.m. before meeting Brockport State at 2:00 p.m.
Should King's win both games, it will advance to the 4:00 p.m.
championship game.
