KING'S VOLLEYBALL PREPS FOR MAC PLAYOFFS WITH 3-0 WIN OVER NEUMANN
WILKES-BARRE -- The King's College women's volleyball team geared up for
the MAC Freedom Conference playoffs Friday when the Lady Monarchs closed
out the regular season with a 3-0 victory over Neumann College in Scandlon
Gymnasium.
King's, which won by scores of 30-16, 30-11, 30-19, finished the regular
season slate with a school-record 36-1 mark.
The Lady Monarchs were led by senior setter Katie Baffone with 33 assists
and two aces. Senior Faith O'Dell added nine kills and 10 digs while
junior Jessica McVey followed with 10 kills, eight digs, and six blocks.
Senior Jill Leibman contributed eight kills four aces and three
blocks while junior Annie German also tallied eight kills, seven digs and
five blocks. Senior Stephanie Spencer contributed six kills while senior
Tara Holly chipped in with 15 digs.
The Lady Monarchs will open the MAC Freedom Conference playoffs Wednesday
at 7:00 p.m. wen King's hosts arch-rival Scranton in a semi-final matchup.
Should King's emerge victorious, it will host the winner of the
Lycoming-Farleigh Dickinson matchup Saturday at 7:00 p.m. in Scandlon
Gymnasium.
The Freedom Conference winner will secure an automatic berth into the NCAA
Division III National Tournament.
