KING'S VOLLEYBALL BREAK SCHOOL-RECORD FOR WINS
WILKES-BARRE The King's College volleyball team broke the
school-record for wins in one season as the Lady Monarchs swept a tri-meet
over College Misericordia and Baptist Bible College Tuesday in Dallas.
With the pair of victories,
Kings improved to a spectacular 35-1 on the year.
Needing two wins to surpass
the old mark of 34 victories set in 2000, the Lady Monarchs first defeated
Misericordia 3-0, by scores of 30-16, 30-22, 30-15 to tie the mark. King's
then bested BBC 3-0 by scores of 30-22, 30-21, 30-24 to break the record.
Katie Baffone paced 24 digs
and broke her own school record for assists when she added 64 to her
career total. Baffone has 1,309 assists and broke her best of 1,248 set in
2000. She also increased her school-record career assist mark to 4,607.
Faith O'Dell followed with 24
kills, 24 service points, and 23 digs; Annie German added 19 kills and six
blocks; and Steph Spencer contributed 10 kills and seven blocks.
Jessica McVey totaled 13 kills
and 38 digs; Jill Leibman had nine kills and 15 service points; while Tara
Holly had 20 digs.
King's will host Neumann College Friday at 7:00 p.m. in Scandlon Gymnasium
as part of Senior Night. King's five seniors will be honored before the
match.
