VOLLEYBALL IMPROVES TO 33-1, EYES SCHOOL RECORD FOR WINS
WILKES-BARRE – The King’s College women’s volleyball moved to
within one
victory of equaling the
all-time record for wins on one season as the Lady Monarchs
posted a 3-0 victory over Kean University Saturday in Scandlon Gymnasium.
King’s, which won by scores of 30-20, 30-21, 30-19, improved to 33-1
on the
year and is within striking distance of setting a new school record for
victories in one season. The 2000 team holds
the mark at 34-3 and with three regular
season matches remaining the Lady Monarchs will look to make history
next week.
King’s was led by the setter combination of Katie Baffone and Lauren
Foster
who distributed 18 and 11
assists respectively. Tara Holly posted 17 digs while
Jessica McVey and Katie Carr registered 12 service points apiece. Faith
O’Dell added none kills while Annie German
chipped in with eight kills. Kean, a
2001 NCAA national qualifier, fell to 19-16 on the year.
The Lady Monarchs will have an opportunity to equal or break the
milestone
Tuesday when the team travels
to College Misericordia for a triangular match with
Baptist Bible and Misericordia at 6:00 p.m. in the Anderson Center.
