VOLLEYBALL DOWNS DESALES TO CLINCH HOMECOURT FOR MAC FREEDOMN PLAYOFFS
CENTER VALLEY – Despite the absence of
two key injured starters, the King’s
College women’s volleyball team clinched home court advantage throughout
the upcoming MAC Freedom Conference playoffs as the Lady Monarchs posted
a 3-0 victory over DeSales University Tuesday in Center Valley.
King’s, which won by scores of 30-26,
30-22, 30-13, improved to 27-0 on the year
and 4-0 in MAC Freedom Conference action. With the win, King’s secured
the top seed and home court for the duration
of the conference playoffs which begin
November 6
The Lady Monarchs remained perfect while
playing the match without starting hitters
Jill Leibman and Annie German who missed the match with respective ankle
and back injuries.
Senior setter Katie Baffone led the King’s
attack with 31 assists and six kills.
Jessica McVey followed with 15 kills and eight digs. Stephanie
Spencer added seven kills and 12 service
points while Tara Holly had eight kills
and nine digs. Katie Carr contributed 10 service points while Faith
O’Dell chipped in with a team-high 19 digs.
King’s will return to action when the
Lady Monarchs participate in the prestigious
McDaniel University Invitational Tournament in West Windsor , Md.
The talented field of teams included
Mid-Atlantic Region powers Eastern University,
Moravian College, the University of Scranton, Gallaudet University,
and Richard Stockton College among others.
