KING'S VOLLEYBALL REMAINS UNBEATEN WITH 3-0 WIN OVER
SCRANTON
WILKES-BARRE -- In a battle of the past two MAC
Freedom Conference champions, the King's College women's volleyball team
kept its school-record winning streak alive with a 3-0 triumph over
arch-rival University of Scranton.
The Lady Monarchs, who won by scores of 30-21,
30-16, 30-23, improved to 21-0 on the year and 3-0 in conference play.
After winning the first game, Scranton jumped out to
a 9-4 lead in game two. King's came back to tie the score at 11-11, before
outscoring the Lady Royals 19-5 the rest of the way to go ahead 2-0. The
Lady Monarchs then built a comfortable 27-15 lead in the final game before
closing the door on Scranton.
King's was led by senior Faith O'Dell with 13 kills
and 16 digs. Senior setter Katie Baffone was outstanding with 51 assists
and eight digs. Junior Jessica McVey followed with 14 kills and nine digs.
Senior Jill Leibman added 10 kills and seven blocks while fellow senior
Tara Holly had a team-high 26 digs.
The Lady Monarchs will be idle until October 9 when
FDU-Florham invades Scandlon Gymnasium for a 7:00 p.m. contest.
