KING'S DEFEATS MORAVIAN 3-2 IN BATTLE OF REGIONALLY-RANKED SQUADS
WILKES-BARRE The King's College women's volleyball team
posted a 3-2 victory over MOravian College Friday in a battle of two of
the top-ranked teams in the Mid-Atlantic Region.
The Lady Monarchs won by
scored of 30-23, 30-23, 27-30, 29-31, 16-14 to extend their school-record
winning streak to 20-0 on the year.
Moravian (10-4) entered the matchup ranked fourth in the Mid-Atlantic
Region while King's was rated fifth.
Senior setter Katie Baffone became the first King's player to crack the
4,000 assist mark for her career as she posted 53 assists and now totals
4,025 assists for her career. She also added 12 digs on the day.
Faith O'Dell posted 18 kills with 13 digs. Jill Leibman added eight kills
and 10 blocks. Jessica McVey added nine kills and 22 digs. . Stephanie
Spencer contributed seven kills and seven blocks, while Tara Holly chipped
in with 13 digs.
The Lady Monarchs will host arch-rival Scranton Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. in
Scandlon Gymnasium in a rematch of the 2000 and 2001 MAC Freedom
Conference finals.
