KING'S VOLLEYBALL WINS LEB-VALLEY TOURNEY
ANNVILLE -- The King's College women's volleyball team captured its third
tournament in as many attempts this season as the Lady Monarchs won the
Lebanon Valley Invitational.
In the process, the Lady Monarchs improved to 12-0 on the year.
In the first round, King's defeated St. Mary's (Md.) 3-0 by scores of
30-22, 30-12, 30-11. The Lady Monarchs then survived an upset bid by Mt.
Aloyisius, overcoming a 2-0 deficit to win the last three games.
King's dropped the first two games by scores of 30-27 and 30-27, but
rallied to win the final three games by scores of 30-25, 31-29,
15-7.
In the championship, King's defeated Lebanon Valley College 3-1 by scores
of 30-25, 27-30, 30-26, 30-17.
Seniors Faith O'Dell and Katie Baffone were named to the all-tournament
team. O'Dell had 64 dig and reached the 1,000 dig mark for her career. She
added 53 kills and 38 service points. Baffone dished out 154 assists with
44 digs and 24 service points.
Jessica McVey contributed 60 digs, 38 kills, and 27 service points while
Annie German had 38 kills and 30 service points. Jill Leibman totaled 32
kills and 38 service points while Tara Holly chipped in with 51
digs.
King's will next host Delaware Valley College Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. in
Scandlon Gymnasium.
