KING'S VOLLEYBALL TEAM WINS MUHLENBERG TOURNAMENT TO IMPROVE TO 9-0
ALLENTOWN -- The King's College women's volleyball team won its
second tournament as many attempts this season as the Lady Monarchs
captured the Buttermaker Volleyball Tournament at Muhlenberg College,
Allentown.
On Friday, King's defeated Arcadia and Susquehanna by 3-0 scores. On
Saturday, King's also won by 3-0 scores over Muhlenberg and College
Misericordia. King's defeated Muhlenberg 30-15, 30-27, 30-20, before
downing Misericordia 30-9, 30-23, 30-16. With the four wins over the
weekend, the Lady Monarchs improved their season mark to 9-0.
King's was led by junior Jessica McVey who was named the tournament's most
valuable player. In Saturday's games, she posted 20 kills, 24 digs, 12
service points and six aces. Senior Faith O'Dell was also named to
the all-tournament team after contributing 16 kills, 21 digs, and 16
service points.
Other top Lady Monarchs included Katie Baffone with 61 assists and 18
service points. Junior Annie German added 17 kills, 15 service
points, and seven aces. Senior Jill Leibman followed with 13 kills
and 19 service points while senior Tara Holly chipped in with 17 digs.
King's will be idle until Saturday when the Lady Monarchs compete in the
Lebanon Valley Invitational in Annville
