KING'S TENNIS ADVANCES FOUR TO MAC SEMI-FINALS

LANDISVILLE --  The King's women's tennis team wrapped up the first day of the MAC Championships with three individuals advancing to the singles semi-finals while one doubles team also made it to the semi-final round.

In the number-one singles flight, King's Kristen Hunter (13-5) reached the semi-finals after posting a 6-1, 6-1 win over Aimee Snyder of Lycoming, then following up with a 6-4, 6-4 quarterfinal triumph over Danielle Klim of Arcadia. Hunter will meet second-seeded Alison McDonald of Wilkes in Sunday's semi-finals.

At third singles, freshman Jillian Tallarico (11-6) eached the semi-finals. After an opening round bye, she posted a 6-0, 6-0 win over Stacy Bampton of Albright. She will face Kate Steiner of DeSales in the semi-finals on Sunday.

At number-four singles, Amanda Marchica (12-5) also advanced to the semi-finals. After an opening round bye, she registered a 6-2, 6-4 triumph over Sarah Lapp of Arcadia. She will meet Jess Smith of DeSales in the semi-finals.

Playing fifth singles. Liz Walpole (8-5) won her first round match with a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Brittany McCall of Arcadia, but dropped a 6-0, 6-1 verdict to Shayna Heintzelman of Lebanon Valley.

At number-two singles, Sarah Guza (11-7) dropped a 6-1, 6-1 verdict to top-seeded
Xiaoqiao Zhang of Wilkes.  In sixth singles, Courtnay Wilson fell 6-1, 6-1 to Katie Buckley of Wilkes.

In doubles, King's unseeded team of Hunter and Guza (15-2) reached the championship match. In the first round they defeated Lisa Archibald and Jen Rossom of Albright 8-4. In the semi-finals, the posted an 8-4 victory over Becky Reynolds and Aimee Snyder of Lycoming. In the finals they will face top-seeded McDonald and Zhang of Wilkes.

Marchica and Tallarico (12-6) defeated Danielle Klim and Cory McCann of Arcadia 8-4, but fell to Vicky Bybel and Kristin Wilt of Wilkes 8-4.

At number-three doubles, Christy Rossowski and Maria Cometa (7-4) defeated Brittany McCall and Kristen Paula of Arcadia, then fell to Mary Kate Boylan and Kate Steiner of DeSales by an 8-2 count.
 

Manhattanville College will serve as the host school. Results will be available at the following link.
