KING'S TENNIS DEFEATS MANHATTANVILLE, 6-3
WILKES-BARRE -- The King's College women's tennis team
overcame the absence of two of its top players as the Lady Monarchs
posted a 6-3 decision over Manhattanville College Saturday at Kirby
Park.
With the win, King's improved to 8-2 overall and 3-1 in Freedom
Conference play. Manhattanville, meanwhile, fell to 0-9, and 0-5 in
league play.
King's, which was playing with out number-one player Jillian Tallarico
and number-four player Rachel Hoffnagle, took a 2-1 lead after doubles,
then won four of the six singles bouts to clinch the match.
Lauren Breen was a winner in both singles and doubles, improving her
unbeaten record to 7-0 in singles play. Maria Cometa and Jennifer Bader
were also winners in both singles and doubles for the Lady Monarchs.
King's returns to action Wednesday with a 3:30 p.m. matchup against Wilkes
at Kirby Park.
