KING'S WOMEN'S TENNIS DEFEATS SCRANTON FOR FIRST
TIME SINCE 1994
SCRANTON --The King's College women's tennis team
posted a 5-4 victory over the host University of Scranton Wednesday for
the Lady Monarch first win over the Lady Royals since 1994.
King's won two of the three doubles matches to begin the competition,
then split the six singles bouts to walk away with the victory.
Kristen Hunter, Sarah Guza, and Amanda Marchica were all winners in both
singles and doubles for King's. Hunter improved to 4-0 in at number-one
singles, while also she and Guza upped their doubles mark to 4-0.
Marchica improved to 3-1 in singles while she and partner Jillian
Tallarico also stands at 3-1 in doubles.
The Lady Monarch win snapped a 12-year losing streak to Scranton
following King's 5-4 win over the Lady Royals in 1994. The victory also
enabled King's to improve to 3-1 on the year.
King's returns to the court on Thursday with a 3:30 p.m. matchup against
Misericordia University at Kirby Park.
