KING'S WOMEN'S TENNIS FINISHES SECOND IN FREEDOM CONFERENCE
TEAM CHAMPIONSHIPS WITH LOSS TO WILKES
WILKES-BARRE -- The Lady Monarch tennis team finished second
in the 2008 Freedom Conference Team Championships as the Lady Monarchs
fell to top-seeded Wilkes University 5-0 Sunday at Kirby Park.
With the loss, King's ended its winningest season ever with a 15-7 mark.
Wilkes-meanwhile, receives an automatic berth into the NCAA Division III
Tournament after improving to 17-2 on the year.
Wilkes opened the match sweeping all three doubles contests to build a
3-0 lead. The teams would then move on to singles play and after
Xiaoquao Zhang and Michelle Knight secured respective wins over Sarah
Guza and Liz Walpole to clinch the match for Wilkes, the remaining four
contests were suspended.
