Bill Eydler enters his 16th season as King's women's coach in
2007 while beginning
his 29th year as the college's head men's coach. Eydler came to King's
with an outstanding background in tennis. Over the last 33 years, he has been the director of the
Wilkes-Barre Department of Parks and Recreation. Eydler is also a well-known official,
tournament director and a USTA/NTRP Verifier.
He began his coaching career at Wyoming Seminary in Kingston, Pa. and led his team to
the Northeastern Pa. High School Tennis League title in 1972. After his tenure at Wyoming
Seminary, he then returned to coach his alma-mater, Wilkes-Barre Meyers, for three years
before coming to King's.
An accomplished player, Eydler has won many tournaments on the local level as well as
in the Northeast, earning MSTA Men's age 35 doubles ranking of #10 in 1984. In 1981, he
was named to the Advisory Board of Four Star Tennis Academy and has served as an officer
in the Lehigh Valley Tennis Association, a division of the USTA, for several years.
In 1986, he was honored with the selection of State Tennis Director of the Keystone
State Games, retiring from the position in 1989. For the second time in his tenure at
King's, Eydler was honored by the LVTA as the 1990 Outstanding Coach of the Year, an award
he previously received in 1983.
Eydler received his BA
degree from King's College in 1970 and earned his Master's degree in
Physical Education Administration from Columbia Pacific University in
1982.
Eydler
will be awarded an Honorary Doctor of Public Service from Ansted
University, British Virgin Islands of UK for meritorious contributions in
coaching and athletic administration, 2004.
Eydler is recently retired as a Math Specialist in the
Wilkes-Barre Area School District. Coach Eydler and his wife Diane reside in Wilkes-Barre.

Associate Head Coach
Ned McGuire

Entering his first season as associate
head coach of the women's tennis team is Ned McGuire.
McGuire had served the past four years as a volunteer assistant
before formally being promoted to associate head coach in June, 2007.
McGuire will assist Eydler in women's tennis recruiting but
handles the vast majority of the squad's match coaching and
traveling with the team for road contests.
He also aids Eydler with the men's team.
Coach
McGuire is a 1977 King's College graduate, earning a degree in
Psychology. He retired on June 2, 2005 after 35 years of service to
the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. He worked for the Pennsylvania
Department of Public Welfare at the White Haven Center, a state
residential facility for people with developmental disabilities. In
1986 he took a position at the Northeast Regional Office in
Scranton,
holding various positions which included licensing administrator,
program administrator, and supervisor prior to his retirement.
He began to play
tennis competitively in 1981 and joined the USTA tennis leagues for
adults. Since then he has competed on various adult teams and
several times qualified for the regional championships at Princeton,
N. J. McGuire has been the captain of men’s seniors’ team for the
past 3 years. He was also co-captain of an adult mixed doubles team
for the past two years. He plays doubles four times a week and
occasionally plays in local tournaments.
With
his retirement, McGuire is now able to devote his full attention to
the King's tennis program.
