KING'S WOMEN'S SOCCER TIES ARCADIA, 1-1 IN 2 OT's
WILKES-BARRE -- Kaitlin Wilcox scored the lone
goal for King's College as the Lady Monarch soccer team battled Arcadia
University to a 1-1 double-overtime tie Monday at Betzler Fields.
By registering the most ties in a season in program history, King's
stands at 6-8-3 on the year while Arcadia is 7-7-3.
After a scoreless first half, King's nearly took a 1-0 lead early in the
second stanza when Lisa McMillan bounced a shot off the crossbar.
Arcadia would finally push across the game's first goal with 22:29
remaining when Marie O'Neil scored off an assist by Stephanie
Bates following a corner kick. King's would tie the score with
18:54 left when Kaitlin Wilcox drilled in a pass from Cindy Smallwood
just under the cross bar.
Neither team would score during the course of two 10-minute overtime
periods.
Arcadia outshot King's 18-12 and held a 4-2 advantage in corner kicks.
King's goalie Christine Uhl was outstanding in net with 12 saves,
including four from point-blank range.
The Lady Monarchs will travel to face Marywood University Wednesday at
3:00 p.m. in Scranton.
