KING'S WOMEN'S SOCCER ROLLS PAST NEW JERSEY CITY
WILKES-BARRE -- Adrienne Stine scored three
goals and Lisa McMillan added two goals and an assist to lead the King's
College women's soccer team to an 8-0 victory over New Jersey City
University Monday at Betzler Fields.
With the win, King's improved to 5-7-2 overall while New Jersey City
slipped to 3-12.
McMillan opened the scoring at 28:21 off an assist from Kaitlin Wilcox.
King's then took a 2-0 lead at 26:30 when Kelly Puffenberger
struck net off another Wilcox assist. Stine and McMillan would then
tally unassisted goals to conclude a four goal spurt by the Lady
Monarchs over a 5:02 span. Sara Coletta then scored off an assist by
McMillan to give King's a 5-0 lead with 16:59 remaining in the first
half. Stine would convert another unassisted goal with 6:04 on the
clock as King's took a 6-0 lead into the halftime break.
In the second half, Stine would score her third and final goal off an
assist from Puffenberger with 38:31 remaining to push the score to 7-0.
The Lady Monarchs tacked on its final goal with 1:37 left when Brittney
Hillard scored off Puffenberger's second assist of the day.
King's outshot New Jersey City 27-to-5 and held a 6-0 advantage in
corner kicks. Lady Monarch goalies Rachel Donatiello and Christine
Uhl combined to make four saves.
King's will next travel to Williamsport to face Lycoming College
Wednesday at 3:00 p.m.
