WILKES AND KING’S PLAY TO SCORELESS
TIE IN FREEDOM CONFERENCE WOMEN’S SOCCER
(Edwardsville, PA) – The youthful King's College
women's soccer team proved it is a program on the rise as the Lady
Monarchs battled defending Freedom Conference champion Wilkes
University to a 0-0 double-overtime tie Thursday in Edwardsville.
With the draw, King's stands at 3-1-2 overall and 0-0-2 in
conference play. Wilkes, which was making its conference
debut, saw its overall mark move to 4-2-1.
Wilkes held an 18-8 advantage in shots and were
also able to secure an 8-2 advantage in corner kicks. The Lady
Monarchs, however, narrowly missed what could have been the eventual
game-winning goal in the first half when a shot caromed off the
post.
Liz Pauly had
five saves in goal for Wilkes, while King’s goalkeeper Christine Uhl
finished with six saves.
King's will be idle until Tuesday when the Lady Monarchs finally
play their first home game of the year, a 4:00 p.m. contest against
the University of Scranton.
