SUSQUEHANNA EARLY GOALS LEADS TO 6-0 WIN OVER KING'S
WILKES-BARRE -- The visiting Susquehanna University women's soccer team
scored three goals in the first 4:07 of play as the Crusaders posted a
6-0 victory over King's College Tuesday at Betzler Fields.
With the win, Susquehanna improved to 5-6-1 while King's slipped to 7-7.
Susquehanna opened the scoring just 0:16 into the game when Erin
Trumbower scored off an assist from Trish Noel. The Crusaders stuck
again quickly when Cara Capestro scored just 0:19 later to give
Susquehanna a 2-0 lead. A.J. Chianese would tally the Crusaders third
goal with 40:53 remaining in the half off an assist from Trumbower. Noel
would score Susquehanna's fourth goal of the half off a corner kick by
Alecia Gold with 37:55 left in the opening stanza.
In the second half, Chianese would score her second goal unassisted with
26:31 remaining before Noel added the final goal of the game with 20:44
left off on Gold's second assist.
Susquehanna outshot King's 17-13 and held a 2-1 edge in corner kicks.
King's goalie Christine Uhl made six saves for King's while Susquehanna
goalies Kim Wild and Megan Steese combined for six saves.
King's will be idle until Saturday when the Lady Monarchs host Drew
University at 11:00 a.m. at Betzler Fields.
