KING'S WOMEN'S SOCCER GOES OVERTIME TO DEFEAT BBC AND SURPASS LAST
SEASON'S WIN TOTAL
CLARKS SUMMIT -- Cindy Smallwood scored both goals, including the
game-winner in overtime as the King's College women's soccer team
defeated host Baptist Bible College 2-1 Thursday in Clarks Summit.
With the win, King's improved to 5-3 and surpassed its victory total
from the entire 2004 season when the Lady Monarchs went 4-14.
Baptist Bible scored the game's first goal when Stacey Simjian converted
an assist from Allison Bowen just 3:14 into the game. King's would knot
the score at 1-1 when Smallwood scored her first goal unassisted at
28:27 left in the half.
The game would remain deadlocked through the second half and went into
the first overtime frame where Smallwood scored the deciding goal off an
assist from Kaitlin Wilcox with just 1:05 left in the first extra frame.
King's held a 19-14 edge in shots while Baptist Bible enjoyed a 13-7 advantage
in corner kicks.
King's returns to action Saturday with a 2:30 p.m. home contest against
Albright College at Betzler Fields.
