KING'S WOMEN'S SOCCER GOES OVERTIME TO DEFEAT BBC AND SURPASS LAST SEASON'S WIN TOTAL

CLARKS SUMMIT -- Cindy Smallwood scored both goals, including the game-winner in overtime as the King's College women's soccer team defeated host Baptist Bible College 2-1 Thursday in Clarks Summit.

With the win, King's improved to 5-3 and surpassed its victory total from the entire 2004 season when the Lady Monarchs went 4-14.

Baptist Bible scored the game's first goal when Stacey Simjian converted an assist from Allison Bowen just 3:14 into the game. King's would knot the score at 1-1 when Smallwood scored her first goal unassisted at 28:27 left in the half.

The game would remain deadlocked through the second half and went into the first overtime frame where Smallwood scored the deciding goal off an assist from Kaitlin Wilcox with just 1:05 left in the first extra frame.

King's held a 19-14 edge in shots while Baptist Bible enjoyed a 13-7 advantage in corner kicks.

King's returns to action Saturday with a 2:30 p.m. home contest against Albright College at Betzler Fields.
