LYCOMING WOMEN'S SOCCER DEFEATS KING'S 4-0
WILKES-BARRE -- Freshman forward Rebecca Shipe scored three goals to
power the Lycoming women's soccer team to a 4-0 victory over King's
College in the MAC Freedom Conference opener for both teams Tuesday at
Betzler Fields.
With the win, Lycoming improved to 5-1 overall and 1-0 in Freedom
Conference play. King's stands at 4-3 and 0-1.
Lycoming opened the scoring with 10:36 remaining in the first half when
Shipe scored on a through pass from Kaitlyn Prairie. With 5:22 left,
Shipe scored again off an assist from Stephanie Shearer to give the
Warriors a 2-0 lead at the half.
Danielle Curry would up the lead to 3-0 with goal off an assist from
Lauren Kaczmarczyk with 31:14 left in the contest. The Warriors pushed
across the game's final goal when Shipe scored her third goal
unassisted.
Lycoming outshot King's 17-12 while securing a 4-2 advantage in penalty
corners. King's goalie Christina Uhl made five saves while Warrior
keeper Jessica Bennett posted seven stops.
King's will next travel to Clarks Summit to face Baptist Bible College
Thursday at 4:00 p.m.
