KING'S WOMEN'S SOCCER BESTS CENTENARY TO EQUAL 2004 WIN OUTPUT

WILKES-BARRE -- The King's College women's soccer team equaled their total victory output from last season as the Lady Monarchs posted a 3-1 victory over Centenary College Saturday at Betzler Fields.

King's, which was 4-14 a year ago, improved to 4-2 after the win. Centenary fell to 0-3 with the loss.

The Cyclones took a 1-0 lead when Tanya DiDonna scored off an assist from Michelle Yerkes with 38:03 left in the half. Centenary would hold the lead until Lisa McMillan converted a penalty kick with 28:42 left in the match to tie the score at 1-1. King's took a 2-1 lead with 20:14 remaining when Catherine Scerra scored off an assist from Annie Drimones. The Lady Monarchs added an insurance goal with 9:19 left when Cindy Smallwood drilled in a crossing pass from Kaitlin Wilcox to put the game away.

King's outshot Centenary 20-4 and held a 10-1 advantage in corner kicks.

The Lady Monarchs will return to action Tuesday at 4:00 p.m. with their MAC Freedom Conference opener against Lycoming at 4:00 p.m. at Betzler Fields.
