KING'S WOMEN'S SOCCER BESTS CENTENARY TO EQUAL
2004 WIN OUTPUT
WILKES-BARRE -- The King's College women's soccer team equaled their
total victory output from last season as the Lady Monarchs posted a 3-1
victory over Centenary College Saturday at Betzler Fields.
King's, which was 4-14 a year ago, improved to 4-2 after the win.
Centenary fell to 0-3 with the loss.
The Cyclones took a 1-0 lead when Tanya DiDonna scored off an assist
from Michelle Yerkes with 38:03 left in the half. Centenary would hold
the lead until Lisa McMillan converted a penalty kick with 28:42 left in
the match to tie the score at 1-1. King's took a 2-1 lead with 20:14
remaining when Catherine Scerra scored off an assist from Annie
Drimones. The Lady Monarchs added an insurance goal with 9:19 left when
Cindy Smallwood drilled in a crossing pass from Kaitlin Wilcox to put
the game away.
King's outshot Centenary 20-4 and held a 10-1 advantage in corner kicks.
The Lady Monarchs will return to action Tuesday at 4:00 p.m. with their
MAC Freedom Conference opener against Lycoming at 4:00 p.m. at Betzler
Fields.
