RIEHL GAME WINNER PROPELS KING'S WOMEN'S SOCCER TO 2-1 VICTORY
WILKES-BARRE -- Freshman Jen Riehl scored what proved to be the
game-winning goal with 30:01 left in the second half as the King's
College women's soccer team posted a 2-1 victory over visiting Lancaster
Bible Friday at Betzler Fields.
With the win, King's improved to 3-2 on the year while Lancaster Bible
slipped to 3-4.
King's chalked up the game's first goal when Kaitlin Wilcox struck net
off a an assist from Liz Martin with 20:04 remaining in the first half.
The Chargers would tie the game at 1-1 when Mary Jennings scored
unassisted with 3:10 left in the opening stanza.
The game would remain tied until Wilcox delivered a perfect through pass
from the left wing to Riehl who drilled the ball past Lancaster Bible
keeper Rebekah Bigenho for the go-ahead score. King's defense would
limit the Chargers to just two shots the remainder of the contest to
preserve the win.
King's goalie Christine Uhl picked up the win by making five saves.
Bigenho posted six stops for the Chargers. The Lady Monarchs owned a
15-8 advantage in shots while Lancaster Bible had a 4-2 edge in corner
kicks.
King's will return to action today (Saturday) with an 11:00 a.m. home
contest against Centenary College at Betzler Fields.
