KING'S WOMEN'S SOCCER
WILKES-BARRE -- The host King's College
women's soccer team outshot visiting Cedar Crest College 22-6 but
dropped a 3-1 decision Thursday at Betzler Fields.
King's dominated the action throughout the first half but missed out on
a number of scoring chances. Cedar Crest failed to register a shot on
goal until Lauren Wawrzenski took advantage of a King's turnover and
chipped the ball over the head of Lady Monarch keeper Christina Uhl for
the game's first score with 15:29 remaining in the half.
Cedar Crest would extend the lead to 2-0 when Elise Paisley scored off a
pass from Steph Strezeleck on the Classics second shot of the game at
12:02 of the first half.
King's would cut the lead to 2-1 on an unassisted goal by freshman Lisa
McMillan with 19:44 remaining, but the Lady Monarchs were unable to cash
in on several more scoring chances over the final minutes.
Cedar Crest put the game away when Paisley knocked in a rebounded shot
off a Uhl save with just 0:08 left in the contest.
Aside from its advantaged in shots, King's took 13 corner kicks compared
to just two for the Classics.
King's returns home Saturday at 2:00 p.m. against Lincoln University.
