KING'S DROPS 2-1 DECISION TO BBC
WILKES-BARRE -- The visiting Baptist Bible College
women's soccer team built a 2-0 lead and held on for a 2-1 victory over
King's College Tuesday at Betzler Fields.
With the win, Baptist Bible improved to 7-7-2 on the year while King's
slipped to 4-11.
The Defenders took a 1-0 lead with just 2:05 left in the first half when
Dana Ferguson scored off a rebounded shot off the cross bar. In the second
stanza, Baptist Bible built a 2-0 advantage when Stacey Simjian score off
an assist from Mandy Hager with 28:44 remaining in the contest.
King's would cut into the lead when Jen Beams struck
net off a Maria Bustin assist with 2:44 left in the game. The Lady
Monarchs had three more scoring chances but were unable to convert as the
Defenders held on for the victory.
Baptist Bible outshot King's 27-16 and held a 4-1 advantage in corner
kicks.
Lady Monarch goalie Christina Uhl was solid in making 21 saves while
Defender keeper Deanna Parker had 14 stops.
King's will next travel to Selinsgrove on Thursday to face Susquehanna
University at 7:00 p.m.
