KING'S WOMEN DOWN MARYWOOD 2-1 IN GAME CALLED FOR
DARKNESS
SCRANTON -- After a slow first half, partially
due to a late-start, King's College managed two second half goals en route
to a 2-1 win over host Marywood University Tuesday afternoon in
Scranton.
After Marywood took a 1-0 lead into halftime off a Kasey Connors goal,
King's College freshman Jennifer Beams notched two goals in a strong
second half performance to give King's the win.
Connors gave Marywood the 1-0 lead when she finished
off a Liz McGill cross at the 37:35 mark in the first half. Trailing 1-0,
the Monarchs (4-7) scored twenty minutes into the second half when
Marywood goalkeeper Amy Hand could not control a Christina Fisher
cross.
Beams was there to finish off the cross to knot the
game at 1-1. Ten minutes later, Beams would finish off a Katie McFarland
cross to notch the game winning goal. The game was called in the 80th
minute due to darkness.
Christine Uhl made 7 stops in the net for the
Monarchs. Marywood keeper Amy Hand had 8 saves on the day for the
Pacers, who fell to 1-11.
King's hosts the University of Scranton Thursday at
4:00 pm in a key MAC Freedom match-up.
