DeROSA NETS RECORD FIVE GOALS AS KING'S WOMEN'S SOCCER DOWNS KEYSTONE, 9-1

LaPlume -- Meghan DeRosa set a single-game school record with five goals as the King's College women's soccer team posted a 9-1 victory over host Keystone College Thursday in LaPlume.

With the win, the Lady Monarchs won their second straight game while improving to 2-5. Keystone, meanwhile, fell to 0-4.

King's took a 1-0 lead when DeRosa drilled in a shot from 18 yards out off an assist from Jen Bem just six minutes into the game. Keystone would tie the score five minutes later when Amanda Dawson scored on a breakaway.

DeRosa then scored two of the next three Lady Monarch goals, while Jenny Lampman also struck net to give King's a comfortable 4-0 halftime lead.

In the second half, DeRosa would score on a penalty kick 8:11 into the final stanza before Megan Borger would score with 26:17 left in the game. DeRosa would then convert her final goal with 20:32 remaining to push the King's advantage to 7-1.

With just 1:30 remaining, Lori Stuart would add another King's goal before Maria Bustin netted a breakaway goal with just 0:30 remaining in the game.  Bustin's goal also enabled the Lady Monarchs to break the school record of eight goals in one game which was accomplished twice.  The most recently in 1997.

King's outshot Keystone 33-4 and held a 6-4 advantage in corner kicks. King's goalie Liz Ball made two saves on the day.

DeRosa broke the previous King's single-game record of three goals held by several players, including DeRosa, who equaled the mark a year ago.

King's returns to action Saturday at 1:00 p.m.. when the Lady Monarchs travel to meet FDU-Florham in Madison, NJ.
