MISERICORDIA WOMEN'S SOCCER DOWNS KING'S, 6-0
WILKES-BARRE -- Jennifer Rebello scored two goals
and dished out one assist while Miki Bedics added two goals to power the
College Misericordia women's soccer team to a 6-0 victory over host King's
College Wednesday at Betzler Fields. With the win, Misericordia improved
to 2-1 while King's fell to 0-4.
Carolyn Muller opened the scoring at 21:51 of the
first half off an assist from Rebello. Rebelo would then register her
first score just 1:55 later off an assist from Sara Rittenhour. Raye
Stewart would strike net at 5:39 off another Rittenhour assist to give the
Cougars a 3-0 halftime lead.
Bedics then scored consecutive goals off assists
from Jen Stine and Muller to push the score to 5-0 with 34:36 remaining.
Rebello would add the game's final goal off a Muller assist with 18:04
remaining.
Cougar goalie Kathleen Schwartz picked up the
shutout win by making one save. King's keeper Liz Ball made 18 saves.
Misericordia outshot King's 32-1 and held a 12-2 advantage in corner
kicks.
King's will return to action Saturday with a 2:00
p.m. contest at Gwynedd Mercy College.
