DEROSA, COLLINS LEAD KING'S WOMEN'S SOCCER PAST NEUMANN
WILKES-BARRE -- Christina Collins scored two goals and Meghan DeRosa
ignited the Lady Monarch attach with three assists as the King's College
women's soccer team to a 3-1 victory over visiting Neumann College
Wednesday at Betzler Fields.
King's (2-8) opened the scoring at 19:56 of the first half when Collins
redirected a DeRosa offering into the Neumann net. The Lady Monarchs
added to their lead when Sarah Brody drilled a DeRosa drop pass into the
upper right hand corner of the net just 1:21 later as King's took a 2-0
lead into the half-time break.
Neumann (3-9) would cut the lead to 2-1 with 14:39 remaining when Shana
Mitchell scored off an assist from Debra Gentry. The Lady Monarchs,
however, would put the game away when Collins converted a header off a
perfect corner kick from DeRosa with just 1:30 left to seal the Lady
Monarch victory.
King's outshot Neumann 24-12 and held a 7-3 advantage in corner kicks.
The Lady Monarchs will next travel to Drew University Saturday at 11:30
a.m. in Madison, NJ.
