ARCADIA DEFEATS KING'S WOMEN'S SOCCER 5-2
WILKES-BARRE -- The Arcadia University women's soccer team broke
open a 2-2 game with three goals over the final 5:33 to earn a 5-2 victory
over host King's College.
King's took a 1-0 lead when Katrina Gibson scored off a crossing pass from
Meghan DeRosa at 18:50. Arcadia tied the score with 3:32 left in the first
half On a goal by Megan Smyth.
The Knights took a 2-1 lead when Amy Franks scored at 43:14 of the second
half, but the Lady Monarchs would knot the score at 2-2 when Jeannie
Dreier scored off a DeRosa cross with 29:51 remaining. The game
would remain deadlocked until Maria DeGeorge scored unassisted at 5:33.
Julia Bergeson-Shic then scored with 2:20 left before Smyth rounded out he
scoring on a goal with 0:24 left.
With the loss, King's falls to 0-1 while Arcadia improved to 1-2. King's
will next travel to Misericordia Saturday at 1:30 p.m.
