WILKES-BARRE -- The King's College women's soccer team dropped a 3-1 decision over visiting Juniata College Sunday at Betzler Fields in the season-opening contest for both squads.

Juniata took a 1-0 half-time lead when Lauren Welsch scored with 6:38 remaining in the opening stanza. Desiree Wagner and Nancy Hayes then scored consecutive goals to put the Eagles on top 3-0 with 28:19 remaining.

King's would then get on the board when Meghan DeRosa scored off an assist from Jeannie Dreier with 21:24 left in the contest.

Juniata outshot King's 18-5 and held a 7-3 advantage in corner kicks.  King's goalie Liz Ball made 13 saves while Juniata keeper Lindsey Treon had four stops.
