KING'S WOMEN'S SOCCER TEAM DROPS OPENER TO JUNIATA, 3-1
WILKES-BARRE -- The King's College women's soccer team dropped a 3-1
decision over visiting Juniata College Sunday at Betzler Fields in the
season-opening contest for both squads.
Juniata took a 1-0 half-time lead when Lauren Welsch scored with 6:38
remaining in the opening stanza. Desiree Wagner and Nancy Hayes then
scored consecutive goals to put the Eagles on top 3-0 with 28:19
remaining.
King's would then get on the board when Meghan DeRosa scored off an assist
from Jeannie Dreier with 21:24 left in the contest.
Juniata outshot King's 18-5 and held a 7-3 advantage in corner kicks.
King's goalie Liz Ball made 13 saves while Juniata keeper Lindsey
Treon had four stops.
The Lady Monarchs will host Arcadia University Wednesday at 4:00 p.m. at
Betzler Fields.
