KING'S COLLEGE SOCCER HOSTING EASTERN
WILKES-BARRE -- Eastern forward Jill DiRenzo lead her team with two
goals in a 6-0 win over the Lady Monarchs Saturday night at Betzler
fields, where the Eagles managed 27 shots on the night.
Kristine Zeiset started the Eastern scoring when
she slipped through the defense and received a pass from Allison Inch,
scoring at 18:12. The next goal would come from a penalty kick off the
foot off Kara Neef at 33:47 in the first half. King's would play solid
defense to finish out the first half down 2-0.
The Lady Monarchs continued their tough play until
65:26 when Ashley Hackman would go one-on-one with the goalkeeper and
put the ball to the left of Rachel Donatiello. DiRenzo would score her
first goal of the night two minutes later at 67:52 as she and Ashley
Hackman went two-on-one with a defender and sent the ball into the net.
DiRenzo/Hackman would strike again at 72:53, this
time with DiRenzo making a long run down the left side of the field and
Hackman would send the ball across for the finish. Tess Beckwith would
finish the scoring for the night after taking a breakaway and scoring
unassisted.
Donatiello stood strong in the net, withstanding a
barrage of shots, and coming away with 10 saves in the match.
The Lady Monarchs will be on the road when they
travel to Aston to face Neumann College on October 9. Game time is set
for 4:00pm
