KING'S WOMEN'S SOCCER PLAYS WELL, FALLS TO LEB-VAL 3-1
WILKES-BARRE -- Lebanon Valley struck twice in the
second half to open up a game that was 1-0 going in to half time, and
held on for the 3-1 win over King's. The Flying Dutchwomen improve to
6-3-1, while the Lady Monarchs fall to 1-8-1.
Leb-Val struck first at 5:19 when Erin McGarvey
found herself on a breakaway with Monarch goalie Rachel Donatiello.
McGarvey was able to chip the ball over a diving Donatiello. Solid
defensive would send King's into half time
down just one goal.
The Dutchmen would strike again at the start of
the second half when midfielder Lauren King beat Donatiello, who came
out of the goal, and put the ball in the net at 47:31 for a 2-0
Dutchwomen lead. The Monarch defense would
hold solid again for 30 minutes before Lebanon Valley's Ely Kirkhoff was
able to sail the ball over Donatiello's head for their final goal of the
match at 74:23.
King's would get on the board when Megan Inama was able
to convert a rebound into a goal at 75:56 and help keep the Monarchs
alive until the final horn of the game.
Lebanon Valley held a slight 11-9 shot
advantage over the Lady Monarchs, and 4-2 in corners. Donatiello was
able to make four saves on the night.
King's is back in action this weekend when the
host conference opponent Eastern University. Game time is set for
5:00 p.m.
