KING'S WOMEN'S SOCCER WINS OPENER BY DOWNING HOST HOOD COLLEGE 4-3 IN OT

FREDERICK, MD -- Becky Chateauneuf made her collegiate debut a memorable one by registering three goals, including the game-winner in overtime, as the King's College women's soccer team opened the 2008 season with a 4-3 victory over host Hood College in the opening round of the Kim Servedio Women’s Soccer Tournament.

With the game knotted at 3-3 after regulation, King's would push across the game winner when
Chateauneuf scored off an assist from Allison Beck 8:56 into the extra session to send the Lady Monarchs into the championship match.

Fellow freshman Megan Inama also scored for King's.  In goal, rookie Sara Ciarlo made 12 saves to pick up the victory.

King's would build a 3-1 lead but Hood would send the game into overtime on a Jessicsa Devine goal with just 6:05 left in the contest, setting up Chateauneuf's heroics.

King's will play for the tournament title Sunday at 1:00 p.m. against Mississippi College, a 3-0 victor over McDaniel in the other first-round contest
