KING'S WOMEN'S LACROSSE POSTS 10-8 WIN OVER
WIDENER
CHESTER -- Lindsay Sabo scored four goals and the
King's College women's lacrosse team overcame a 7-6 second half deficit
over the final 14:33 of play to post a 10-8 victory over Widener
University Saturday in Chester.
With the win, King's improved to 4-8 overall and 2-6 in the Middle
Atlantic Conference. Widener, meanwhile, fell to 3-11 and 2-6 in MAC
play.
With the game tied at 5-5 entering the second half, King's would take a
one-goal lead when Sabo struck net just 0:42 into the final stanza. But
Widener countered as Amanda Wilson and Grace Cavanaugh scored
back-to-back goals to put the Pioneers on top 7-6 with 25:01 left in the
contest.
From there, Reanna Lachner ignited King's with a goal at 15:27 to tie
the score at 7-7. Sabo would then score unassisted at 12:54 before
Melissa gates struck net just one minute later as King's lead grew to
9-7. Sabo would tally her fourth goal of the day with 9:20 left in the
game to give the lady Monarchs a 10-7 lead.
Would draw to within 10-8 on a goal by Tara Krasley with 4:52 remaining
but the Pioneers would draw no closer as King's held on for the victory.
King's dominated the game statistically, out shooting Widener 29-19
while forcing 31 turnovers. Lachner and Michelle O'Brien aided the Lady
Monarchs with two goals each while Sara Alesso chipped in with an
assist. King's goalie Heather Kelly made four saves on the day.
King's will next play host to Susquehanna University Tuesday at 4:00
p.m. at Betzler Fields.
