BETHLEHEM -- Grace King's scored seven goals as the King's College
women's lacrosse team secured its second straight Middle Atlantic
Conference playoff berth with a 16-9 victory over host Moravian College
Saturday in Bethlehem.
With the win, King's improved to 9-5 overall and 5-5 in MAC play.
Moravian slipped to 2-14 and 0-10 in conference play.
King's took a slim 7-5 led into the halftime break as Lindsay Sabo led
the way for the Lady Monarchs by scoring three of her four goals.
In the second half, however, it was King who took over the game for the
Lady Monarchs, scoring two goals in the first 2:32 of the half to
stretch the lead to 9-5. After a Moravian goal, King's and Sabo would
each score to give the Lady Monarchs an 11-5 lead with 23:07 remaining.
After a pair of Moravian goals cut the lead to 11-7 with 19:49 on the
clock, King and Melissa Gates answered with consecutive goals for the
Lady Monarchs to extend the advantage to 13-7 with 16:35 remaining.
After a Greyhound goal, King scored again, her fifth of the second half,
to give the Lady Monarchs a 14-8 lead. Gates and Erica Kovats added late
goals to round out King's scoring.
King's outshot Moravian 32-19. King's goalie Heather Kelly made seven
saves while Moravian keeper Laura Schantz posted 13 stops.
King's will be seeded fifth in the MAC playoffs and will travel to face
