KING'S WOMEN'S LACROSSE RALLIES PAST
ELIZABETHTOWN
WILKES-BARRE -- The King's College women's
lacrosse team overcame a 7-3 first-half deficit by scoring nine of the
next 10 goals as the Lady Monarchs posted a 12-10 comeback victory over
Elizabethtown College in a Middle Atlantic Conference matchup Saturday
at Betzler Fields.
With the win, King's improved to 4-3 overall and 1-3 in MAC play.
Elizabethtown fell to 2-7 and 2-1 in league action.
Elizabethtown would take a 7-3 lead with 3:18 left in the first half on
a Sarah Gilson goal. The Lady Monarchs would close out the half by
netting the final two goals as Lindsay Sabo scored with 1:29 left and
Kim Murray netted a key score with just 0:38 on the clock to bring
King's to within 7-5 at the break.
In the second half the Lady Monarchs flew out of the gates, scoring
seven of the next eight goals, including six straight scores. Grace King
netted three goals in the spurt while Sabo added two. Sarah Alesso
scored the final goal of the rally for King's, giving the lady Monarchs
a 12-8 lead with 7:47 remaining.
Elizabethtown added a pair of goals in the final two minutes to close
out the scoring.
Sabo finished with a game-high six goals and two assists while King
followed with three. Heather Kelly made seven saves in goal for the Lady
Monarchs.
The Lady Monarchs held a 31-18 advantage in shots while each team had 20
ground balls.
