KING'S WOMEN'S LACROSSE TEAMS SETS SCORING RECORDS IN 25-6 VICTORY
OVER CHESTNUT HILL
WILKES-BARRE -- Lindsay Sabo equaled the school-record for single-game
points and the King's College women's lacrosse team broke two
single-game program scoring records as the Lady Monarchs posted a 25-6
victory over visiting Chestnut Hill College Thursday at Betzler Fields.
With the win, King's improved to 3-3 on the year while Chestnut Hill
slipped to 1-5.
King's, which built a 16-5 halftime lead, surpassed the previous
school-record of 21 goals first set in a 2000 game against Centenary and
equaled in 2004 against Moravian. The Lady Monarchs also added eight
assists to post a King's record of 33 total points in the contest,
bettering the former mark of 32 points set last season against Arcadia.
Sabo, meanwhile, scored seven goals and dished out three assists to
total 10 points in the contest. Her scoring outage equaled the Lady
Monarch record of 10 points, which was accomplished four previous times,
including Sabo herself last season. She also fell one goal shy of
the single-game goal scoring record of eight set by Michelle McKeon in
2000 against Rosemont.
Grace King followed with a four-goal, one assist effort for the Lady
Monarchs. Sara Alesso added three goals and two assists; Kim Murray
tallied three goals and one assist; while Keri Niedt also scored three
goals. Michelle O'Brien and Melissa Gates netted two goals apiece while
Karen Harp chipped in with one score and one assist.
King's goalie Heather Kelly made five saves on the day.
The Lady Monarchs owned a 43-14 advantage in shots and allowed just four
Chestnut Hill shots over the game's final 30 minutes.
King's will next host Elizabethtown College Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at
Betzler Fields.
