KING'S WOMEN'S LACROSSE DOWN MISERICORDIA, 17-2
WILKES-BARRE -- The King's College women's
lacrosse team raced out to an 11-1 half-time lead en route to posting a
17-2 victory over visiting College Misericordia Thursday at Betzler
Fields.
With the win, King's extended its single-season school victory record by
improving to 11-5, while Misericordia slipped to 3-10.
Lindsay Sabo registered three goals with four assists to aid the Lady
Monarch attack. She received plenty of support as Michelle O'Brien
netted three goals with an assist; Patrice Cote added three goals; while
Kristen Greene contributed two goals and four assists.
Grace King netted two goals with an assist while Kim Murray, Melissa
Gates, Kristina Klenk, and Rachel Agzigian all tallied one goal for the
Lady Monarchs. Keri Niedt chipped in with two assists while Mary Beth
Clark made nine saves in goal.
The win also marked the final home victory for
seniors Greene, Clarke, Cote, and Kim Triftshouser. The foursome helped
lead King's to the program's first -ever Middle Atlantic Conference
playoff berth since the program's inception in 1997.
Misericordia received goals from Kelly Coppage and
Amanda Felte, while Allison Hoffer made 15 saves in goal for the
Cougars.
King's will close out the regular-season Saturday with a 1:00 p.m.
contest at Widener University before making its MAC playoff debut
Tuesday against an opponent yet to be determined.
