KING'S WOMEN'S LACROSSE CONCLUDES FINEST
SEASON EVER WITH 11-7 WIN OVER CENTENARY
WILKES-BARRE -- The King's College women's
lacrosse team concluded its finest season ever as the Lady Monarchs posted
an 11-7 victory over visiting Centenary College Monday on a rain-soaked
Betzler Fields.
With the win, the King's finished the
season with a 8-6 record, the first time the program has ever surpassed
the .500 plateau. The Lady Monarchs, who do not have a senior player on the
squad, also posted the most wins in school history, surpassing the
previous mark of five established in 2000 and 2003.
The Lady Monarchs took a 5-2 lead at the
half as five different King's players struck net. In the second half the
Lady Monarchs went on a 4-1 spurt on the strength of two goals from Kim
Murray to build a 9-2 lead with 21:54 remaining in the contest.
After Centenary scored at 13:23, King's Sara Alesso answered just 0:16
later to push the lead to 10-3. Kerry Wayne would close out the scoring
for the Lady Monarchs with just 0:05 left.
Patrice Cote led King's with two goals and
an assist while Lindsay Sabo and Murray had two goals each. Kristen Greene
chipped in with one goal and one assist.
