KING'S WOMEN'S LAXERS HOLD OFF LYCOMING, 11-10
WILKES-BARRE -- The King's College women's lacrosse
team built a 9-4 second-half lead but had to hold off a Lycoming rally to
post an 11-10 victory.
With the win, the Lady Monarchs extended their
school-record victory total in improving to 7-4 overall and 3-3 in the
Middle Atlantic Conference. Lycoming fell to 3-8 and 1-7.
The game stood at a 2-2 tie early on but King's went
on a 5-0 spurt to built a 7-2 lead. After Lycoming scored a pair of goals,
Kristen Green's goal gave the Lady Monarchs an 8-4 half-time lead. Kim
Murray would score just 0:12 into the second half to put King's on top
9-4. But Lycoming rallied with four straight goals to cut the lead to 9-8.
Lindsay Sabo gave King's a 10-8 lead with an
unassisted goal at the 10:23 mark, but the Warriors received back-to-back
goals from Lauren Evangelist to knot the score at 10-10 with 4:55
remaining. Greene, however, would score the game-winner with 1:56 left to
give King's the victory.
Sabo led King's with three goals and two assists.
Murray added three goals with one assist while Greene also tallied three
goals. Lady Monarch goalie Mary Beth Clark made 11 saves on the day.
Lycoming was led by Evangelist who netted six goals
while Kristen Dart added four.
King's will travel to face Scranton Wednesday at
1:00 p.m.
