KING'S WOMEN'S LACROSSE DOWNS FDU, 13-10
WILKES-BARRE -- Kristen Greene scored four goals
while Kim Murray added three goals and two assists to power the King's
College women's lacrosse team to a 13-10 victory over FDU-Florham Tuesday
at Betzler Field.
With the win, the Lady Monarchs improved to 2-2
overall and 1-2 in the Middle Atlantic Conference.
King's jumped out to a 2-0 lead on goals from Greene
and Erica Kovats. The Devils countered with three straight goals to take a
3-2 lead with 9:30 left in the opening half. But the lady Monarchs
answered on a goal by Lindsay Sabo and another goal from Murray with 4:17
on the clock as King's took a 4-3 lead into the halftime break.
In the second half, the Murray scored just 1:00
minute into play to ignite a 6-0 spurt. Kovats and Kelly Ilardi would
score to push the lead to 7-3 with 26:48 remaining before Murray, Sara
Alesso, and Greene tallied goals to extend the Lady Monarch lead to
10-3.
After an FDU goal, Lindsay Sabo and Greene scored as King's lead grew to
12-4 with 13:39 left. Greene would scored her final goal off a Murray
assist with 8:19 left to give the Lady Monarchs a 13-5 lead and allow
coach Kathy Kerr to substitute freely for the remainder of the game.
Sabo and Kovats finished with two goals each while
Alesso added a goal and assist.
King's will return to action Thursday when the Lady
Monarchs host Elizabethtown College at 4:00 p.m. at Betzler Fields.
