WILKES-BARRE -- The King’s College women’s lacrosse team wrapped up the 2008 season as the Lady Monarchs dropped a 17-5 decision to visiting Messiah College Saturday at Betzler Fields. With the loss, King’s ended its season with a 3-13 overall record and a 2-6 mark in Middle Atlantic Conference play.  Messiah, meanwhile, improved to 9-6 and 6-2 in league games.

Kara Geiman led the Falcons with four goals and one assist while Bethany Moskevitz also tallied four goals.

King’s was paced by Grace King with two goals and one assist while Melissa Gates added two goals. King moved into second place all-time at King’s with 139 career goals in her fine career, moving past Michelle McKeon’s mark of 138 from 1998-2001. Alicia Cox also scored a goal for the Lady Monarchs.

King’s goalie Heather Kelly made 14 stops on the day setting a new Lady Monarch single-season record with her 177th save of the year, surpassing the previous record of 168 saves by Meghan Andres in 2002.
